More about It Bags from The Guardian: Bags for people with bags more money than sense

---Quote--- *Bags for people with bags more money than sense* Linda Grant Wednesday January 9, 2008 Guardian If western civilisation were to fall tomorrow as a result of the kind of meteor attack that supposedly killed the dinosaurs, future archaeologists would discover a landscape littered with almost indestructible It Bags. It is the received wisdom handed down from my mother that a good handbag makes the outfit but there is "good" and there is Burberry's new 13,000 gold alligator bag, which is not even the most expensive currently available. You could, for example, spend $55,000 (28,000) on an Hermes crocodile bag, the clasp of which is encrusted in diamonds. As designer fakes proliferate, handbag makers have aggressively put up their prices.  read more »

Boon times for Bailey-era Burberry

Pictured above: Burberry’s Fall 2008/09 ad campaign staring Sam Riley and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
Christopher Bailey’s reign over the Burberry empire just became a little more majestic.
The iconic British brand has reported a whopping 26% increase in sales revenues the past quarter. In a down-turned economy, this is an improbable development for any company. For a label [...]

Live at Barneys Warehouse Sale: Men's Basement!

It's Valentine's Day, sure, but today's also the opening day at the Barneys Warehouse Sale, kicking off this morning at the Barneys Co-op in Chelsea. Racked is on the scene all morning to cover the madness. Strap in. &set=72157603906964794"> At a leisurely, quasi-metrosexual pace, our men's correspondent strolled into the opening morning of the Barneys Warehouse Sale just before 10am, missing the line. His report: "Pretty much business as usual in the basement, for anyone who's ever done the men's warehouse basement before. Aisles empty in places, mildly crowded in others. Most excitement around the suits, with lots of guys who wear starched blue shirts to work trying on jackets.  read more »

Who Wore It Better? Burberry Metallic Tiered Dress

I just expressed how stunning Amy Smart looked in this Burberry metallic tiered dress she wore to the reopening party for Burberry Beverly Hills . Another actress, Rose Byrne, also recently wore the dress to a red carpet gala in NYC. Ooh, competition! While Amy opted for the brand's thistle bangle and T-strap sandals with metal stud heel, Rose wore simple black pumps and the Swarovski jeweled necklace we saw all over Burberry's Fall runway . Both ladies do justice to the dress, but who wore it better? Source and Source Who Wore It Better?  read more »

Milan Gets Wet & Wild: Burberry Prorsum Plays In The Rain, While Pringle and D&G Go Nautical

As Spring 2009 is already rife with nature and weather-oriented inspirations, it is no surprise to see water play a seminal role in the themes and palettes of many of the first major shows of Milan’s Spring 2009 Fashion Week . On the fashion forecast: stormy English Summers at Burberry Prorsum , while Pringle ’s evocation of the azure depths of swimming pools and inevitably cute nautical themes at D&G also echo H20’s influence. Below we showcase some of the highlights. “I like going back to nature. I want the collection to be all about outerwear,” says Christopher Bailey of S/S 09’s Burberry Prorsum’s ready-to-wear, a collection he dubbed “Garden Girls”.  read more »

Burberry - The Beat Eau de Parfum Review

Burberry The Beat is the fresh, new fragrance from the iconic house of Burberry. This youthful scent merges the energy of music, fashion and dance with an irreverent twist to embody the hip, British It-Girl. Agyness Deyen, International Top Model personifies this girl from her punky hair to her personal style. “Young, Modern, Energetic, Dynamic, Expressive, Fun, Vigor, Verve, and Spiritedness… all words that describe the mood, inspiration and sense of ebullience that we wanted to evoke as we created The Beat,” says Burberry Creative Director - Christopher Bailey. A sparkling woody floral, with notes of Ceylon tea, bluebell and iris combine for a sexy and contradictory fragrance. Further celebrating the energy of music - UK music sensation, The Fratellis have partnered with Christopher Bailey to create a special track entitled, The Beat. Like any healthy beauty addict, as the seasons change, so do my fragrances and what I reach for (and what I push back for another mood). This spring, I’ve been on the hunt for something that is fitting for my age, and yet sophisticated enough that it doesn’t make me feel like I’m in my teens (since even though you can ask me how old I am, and I want to respond 18, I’m really 21–closer to 22 now). My fall-back fragrance is and, likely, will always be Dior’s Addict (it’s really like the ponytail; it always works!), but I’m extremely satisfied with what I found in Burberry’s The Beat for Spring 2008. A touch of sweetness, soft florals, and something innately fun marks the scent. It is entirely fitting for the spring season with its burst of fresh blooms, but the sweetness that accompanies it makes it utterly feminine and flirty. There is an afterhtought of woodiness in the background, especially when it dries down fully, and I like it because it tames some of the overt floral notes you may initially catch a whiff of. And for those who prefer more potent scents can find refuge in The Beat Intense Exlixir , which is more concentrated than eau de parfum. The packaging is perfectly in line with the Burberry brand and image, which is exactly what I would expect (and I don’t usually love surprises–so this works for me!). I love their version of a flask, and the beigey-pink glass is upbeat and reminds me of spring. I have to admit that the Intense Exlixir packaging has me awfully tempted, just because it is so sleek and masculine, despite the fragrance being intensely feminine. Could the hunt for the perfect spring scent before over? Perhaps! Sniffed this?  read more »
